Penny has a PhD in Molecular Microbiology from Murdoch University. She joined Wrays in 2001 after completing post-doctoral research positions at Edith Cowan University and the University of Western Australia, working in the area of human genetics. She was registered as a Patent and Trade Mark Attorney and gained a Master of Intellectual Property Law in 2004. Penny specialises primarily in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and agri-biotech. She has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting local and overseas originating patent applications, acting in patent opposition proceedings and providing general infringement, validity and due diligence opinions.
