National Innovation Statement Announced

There’s been a lot of discussion regarding the Australian Government’s Innovation Statement which was released earlier today.

Key Highlights of the Agenda

  1. Taking the leap – investing in and financing innovation
  2. Working together – encouraging industry and research organisations to collaborate more effectively
  3. Best and brightest – attracting people with the right skills
  4. Leading by example – making it easier for business to trade and work with government

Each of these overarching themes has a number of associated programs, such as tax incentives for investors, a research and business linkage projects scheme, embracing the digital age, and data sharing for innovation.

It is pleasing to note that a number of suggestions in our recent discussion paper “Innovation in Australia; Building a Prosperous Future” have been adopted.

Our team are working their way through the detail of the agenda and will provide a more detailed analysis on the government’s package over the coming days.

As an IP firm that thrives on leveraging innovation, Wrays is excited by the package, the discussion that has been brought to the forefront today, and the government’s commitment to growth in this area. However, we recognise there is still much to be done and that the ‘the devil is in the detail.’

We also look forward to sharing our insights with you at seminars and workshops to be held throughout 2016, in which we will share our thoughts on how you can leverage the new agenda for the benefit of your growing business.
