IP Spotlight 18 May 2021

We are pleased to share some good news in this edition of IP Spotlight, as the 2021-22 Australian Federal Budget is set to benefit our medical and biotech companies – find out more in our article summarising the great news for innovators in this space! We’re also happy to report that IP Australia has reduced fees for PCT filers this month.

In addition, we have taken the opportunity to reflect on how the IP industry in Australia fared during the pandemic, as we look into the key results from the Australian Intellectual Property Report for 2020. In this edition, we also comment on the Federal Court’s decision on Google’s collection and use of location data, and discuss results for patent opposition decisions.
