IP Australia’s COVID-19 Relief Measures

In view of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, IP Australia has decided to continue its streamlined process for requesting free extensions of time of up to 3 months until at least 31 January 2020.

IP Australia is extending its COVID-19 relief measures to the end of January to give users of Australia’s IP system more certainty over the coming Christmas and New Year holiday period.

If users of the IP system have previously received a three-month extension of time under this streamlined (i.e. simplified) process, and they find that a further extension is needed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, they may apply for an additional free extension of time for up to another 3 months via this process.

This streamlined process remains temporary and is being regularly reviewed by IP Australia in light of the severity of disruptions caused by the pandemic. Whether or not these relief measures will be extended further will be decided by IP Australia in the new year.
